- Reminder: Building Permits, Recent Law Changes
One of the most frequent questions Village Officials receive is, "Do I need a building permit for (project)?" That is a fantastic question, but one that needs to be asked of our Building Permit partners for The Village of Climax, SAFEBuilt's Athens Office. There have been several recent changes to building codes and laws in recent years, incuding several common projects that did not previously reuire permit now requiring one. SAFEBuilt keeps up to date with all code and law changes all the time! Remember, SAFEBuilt are our subject matter experts, and any and all information needed or permits required will go through them. - Kalamazoo County 2025 Scrap Tire Recycling Events
The Kalamazoo Conservation District is providing scrap tire collections at no cost to Kalamazoo County residents. Only unpainted passenger tires with rims removed will be collected and no businesses are allowed to participate. For 2024, there were three event dates and we collected 2000+ tires for recycling ! This year we plan to collect even more, sign up now so we can reach our goal of collecting 4000+ tires for recycling and ensure they dont make it in our natural spaces. You DO NOT need to sign up to drop off e-waste. If you have would like to recycling any passanger tires (or smaller) you must sign-up through our sign up sheet: HERE!!! Volunteers are needed for assistance in handing and transfering tires at all of these events, if you are interested in giving back to your community email us today to get involved! - New, Regular President's Office Hours at Village Hall
As some resident's have already discovered, Village Hall has been open for regular Office Hours with President Bill Lewis. These hours will continue weekly on Mondays and Wednesdays from 8 AM - 11:30 AM unless otherwise posted. During these hours, feel free to pop in and discuss all matters pertaining to The Village of Climax and its residents with Bill. No prior arrangements are required.

The Village of Climax received this Notice of Intent required to be sent to each municipality within Kalamazoo County under Part 115 of the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Act (MCL 324.11571(1)) from the Kalamazoo Country Office of Planning and Development. - Pursuit of Railroad Quiet Zone Discontinued, Will Not Move Forward
At our regular meeting Tuesday, July 16, 2024, The Village Council voted 5-0 in favor of discontinuing all discussion pertaining to a possible Railroad Quiet Zone that would have effected the two train crossings within the Village Limits. The Quiet Zone will not move forward. This vote reflects one abstention, Arlene VonHout and one absent Trustee, Alyssa Schwili. Further information from today's meeting will be available in the full, finalized minutes on this website when they are approved at our next regular meeting meeting as well as in an upcoming issue of The Climax Crescent.

- Prairie Home Cemetery End of Life Expenses Through Village of Climax
Below are the current End of Life Services and associated prices for The Village Climax for burials at Prairie Home Cemetary. This list is current as of June 21, 2024 from Village Director of Public Works, TJ Gibson. For cremations, Columbarium Niches are available with opening/closing costs included for a cost of $1000. Each Niche can hold remains of two people. Engraving of Niches is not provided by The Village or included in the pricing. For engraving, residents have several options. The Village recommends Patten's Michigan Monument as they have worked with Patten's on several projects. Services/Prices as Follows: Cemetery Lots, Village Residents - $250.00 Per Burial Site Cemetery Lots - Non-Residents - $1200.00 Per Burial Site Grave Opening/Closing 7 AM - 4 PM Monday - Friday, $500.00 Grave Opening/Closing After 4 PM or Weekends/Holidays - $700.00 Cremation Opening/Closing 7 AM - 4 PM Monday - Friday - $200.00 Cremation Opening/Closing After 4 PM or Weekends/Holidays - $300.00 Cemetery Frost and Snow Removal - $200.00 Foundation Preparation - $0.60/Square Inch

Welcome to the newly remodeled website for The Village of Climax, still located at villageofclimax.org. Key features from the previous website are still here with several new features added and other new features on the way. At the top of the page, aka the header, you will find the main links to the different sections of the website. These buttons will stay the same, regardless of what secion you are viewing on the site. Here is a brief walkthrough of the different sections and features. At the bottom of each page, aka the footer, you will find Village Hall contact information, meeting information and meeting livestream information. The other sections have the following features: News and Notices This is where you can check for News & Notices to the general public from The Village of Climax. Once posted, News & Notices will remain on the website henceforth and available for later reference. Village Calendar This Village Calendar will have all Village Meetings and Events. Residents will be able to click events from The Village Calendar and add them to their own personal calendars on their computers and mobile devices. Services The Services section provides links to services available to residents of The Village of Climax as well as other area public services and utility companies. Resources Here, residents can find direct contact information for Village Council Members, Meeting Minutes from that last two years (prior minutes still available by contacting the Village Clerk), Village Ordinances and Job Applications. Community This area provides links to Climax Township, Climax-Scotts Community Schools, The Climax Crescent, Lawrence Memorial District Library, Prairie Historical Society and Sturgis Bank. Bill Payments The Village of Climax is currently working toward providing a solution for online payments of bills. This secion is labeled "Coming Soon" with more details to come when available.
